The Boston Globe will celebrate the best athletes, teams, individuals, performances and
moments of the past year at the inaugural Globies on October 6 at House of Blues Boston

Boston, MA – The Boston Globe has announced tickets are on-sale for “The Globies Presented by Mercedes-Benz,” a first-of-its-kind sports awards celebration that will honor the best of the New England sports scene on and off the field. The inaugural event will take place on October 6 at House of Blues Boston.

Fans are able to purchase tickets by visiting BostonGlobe.com/Globies. Tickets to attend this celebration of New England sports start at $250 and include complimentary food and beverage. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Travis Roy Foundation, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families. Along with The Travis Roy Foundation serving as the event beneficiary, Travis Roy will speak at The Globies and present the Editor’s Choice Awards.

“Travis Roy is an inspirational figure that transcends sports for all the work he does to improve the lives of those with spinal cord injuries,” said Mike Sheehan, CEO Boston Globe. “He is an amazing addition to The Globies and we are proud to help raise money for the Travis Roy Foundation with proceeds from ticket sales.”

The Boston Globe also announced that sportscaster Sean McDonough will emcee The Globies Presented by Mercedes-Benz. His father, Will McDonough, was a longtime Boston Globe sports reporter and columnist.

The Globies will be a part of HUBweek, a week long gathering to celebrate the big ideas and bold solutions that emerge from the people, openness, and intellectual energy found in Greater Boston. Mercedes-Benz is the principal partner of The Globies, while MGM Springfield and Budweiser are presenting sponsors. DraftKings, Delta Airlines and Tiffany & Co. are additional sponsors of the event. Fans can vote for their favorite nominees at The Globies website through September 1.
