Cambridge, MA – The Head Of The Charles® Regatta (HOCR), one of the world’s preeminent rowing competitions, has announced its sponsors for the 2017 Regatta taking place the weekend of October 21-22 in Boston. BNY Mellon is proud to return as the lead sponsor of this year’s regatta. The firm will be joined by a group of top-tier partners, including two new premier sponsors, Delta Air Lines and Aston Martin, for the annual event that attracts more than 11,000 rowers and 350,000 spectators to the banks of the Charles River.

The Head Of The Charles Regatta will welcome 30 new sponsors in 2017. In total, the number of sponsors for the 53rd Head Of The Charles Regatta has grown 10 percent from 2016 with nearly 100 partners signed on for this year’s race.

BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, returns to serve as presenting sponsor of the HOCR for the fifth consecutive year. This includes presenting the BNY Mellon Championship Cups to the winning competitors in the Regatta’s Men’s and Women’s Championship Eights.

“The Head Of The Charles Regatta is a beloved New England tradition and among the most prestigious world rowing events,” said Mitchell Harris, CEO of BNY Mellon Investment Management. “BNY Mellon is proud to support HOCR and continue our commitment to rowing. We’re looking forward to a great weekend and presenting the BNY Mellon Championship Cups to the top finishing men’s and women’s collegiate teams.”

Delta Airlines will serve as the Presenting sponsor of the Regatta’s Reunion Village venue, a controlled access enclosure at the midway point of the race offering food, beverages and one of the best vantage points along the racecourse. Delta will also have a strong presence at Weld Bend, on the Cambridge banks of the river, where it will offer Regatta patrons giveaways and game activations promoting Delta.

Aston Martin will join the HOCR for the first time this year as a premier sponsor. The independent British luxury sports car company will have a display tent with vehicles positioned on the banks of the Charles River beside Attager Row, outside the BNY Mellon hospitality tent.

New Balance returns for its fourth year as the Official Athletic Footwear and Athletic Apparel Sponsor of HOCR and will again create a custom shoe designed exclusively for the Regatta. The Brighton-based company will have a retail tent at the Regatta beside Attager Row where the HOCR custom shoe and other HOCR apparel will be available. Brooks Brothers will once again return for a seventh consecutive year as the Official Premium Apparel Sponsor of HOCR and will continue to outfit the more than 2,000 event volunteers with a premium piece of outerwear. Brooks Brothers will use two retail shops to sell products at HOCR, at Attager Row: Rowing & Fitness Expo and the Weld Exhibition.

“This year promises to be one of the most exciting regattas to date with a field of elite rowers from many of the top universities and clubs,” said Fred Schoch, the Executive Director of the HOCR. “It is impossible to do an event of the magnitude of the Head Of The Charles Regatta every year without the support of amazing partners. We’re thrilled to share our fall tradition with our new and returning partners.”

The Head Of The Charles Regatta will be free and open to the public. In addition to rowing action on the challenging three-mile course – beginning at Boston University’s DeWolfe Boathouse and finishing at Artesani Park in Brighton – the Regatta offers a number of family-friendly activities. These include the Rowing and Fitness Expo; food vendors serving delicacies from all over the world; and Reunion Village – the half-way point of the race offering clubs, schools, alumni groups, parents, boosters and more opportunities to catch up with friends in a fun and relaxed environment.

Not Your Average Joe’s Cooks Up Contemporary Waltham Restaurant with Enhanced Offerings for Discerning Guests

Location marks the 24th East Coast restaurant for the fast-growing Massachusetts-based hospitality brand

Waltham, MA – Not Your Average Joe’s, the New England-based restaurant known for its globally inspired, chef-driven menu at affordable prices, will bring a fresh and innovative approach to Waltham’s dining scene when it opens its doors at 56 Market Place Drive Monday, August 24, 2015. The restaurant will be the fast-growing hospitality brand’s 24th location along the East Coast and 16th in Massachusetts.

Designed with today’s discerning suburban diner in mind, the Waltham restaurant will boast more than 6,500 square-feet, and feature an open-kitchen model with modern-industrial finishes. More expansive and dedicated bar space will support an increasing demand for casual bar dining, craft cocktails and local libations. The restaurant will also accommodate 200 interior diners and more than 50 diners around a roaring fire pit on the outside patio, another expanded offering for the brand.

“We’re excited to expand Not Your Average Joe’s footprint in Massachusetts, where it all began, and we look forward to joining Waltham’s diverse and engaged community,” said Not Your Average Joe’s CEO and Founder, Steve Silverstein. “We will offer residents the unparalleled quality and service our customers have come to love, as well as a chef-driven menu, affordable prices, and inviting atmosphere, now coupled with new dining experiences such as our patio and bar.”

The Waltham location will employ more than 120 area residents through a myriad of front-of-house and back-of-house positions, including managers, servers, hosts, cooks and bussers. Candidates interested in applying for these positions should send resumes to Waltham General Manager Ralph Vitiello at or visit

Not Your Average Joe’s was founded in Dartmouth, MA in 1994 after Silverstein, who was heading his family’s successful retail clothing business at the time, longed to find a great, reasonably priced restaurant in the suburbs. When he couldn’t find it, he opted to build it, despite a lack of experience in the restaurant business. Since then, Not Your Average Joe’s has grown to include 24 locations along the East Coast including Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island and has established an annual growth rate of more than 25 percent.

With an emphasis on seasonally-inspired ingredients, Waltham’s opening menu will feature an array of dishes, ranging from late-summer specials like Mango Shrimp Summer Rolls and “Joe’s Picnic Chicken,” to more classic fare including Rosemary Skewered Scallops and NY Strip Steak with Horseradish Butter. Because each dish is made-to-order, guests are encouraged to request customization to meet dietary restrictions or taste preferences.

Complementing its fare, Not Your Average Joe’s will also offer inventive cocktails, an extensive award-winning wine list and a wide variety of local, regional, national and imported beers. Offering 21 bottles of wine, including “Smokin Joe’s Bottles” – a collection of high-quality, competitively-priced wines including selections from award-winning winemakers such as Cakebread, Veuve Cliquot and Jordan, the Waltham location will also offer 21 wines by the glass. The restaurant will also feature 20 beers on tap, including a rotating selection of Massachusetts-made “Backyard Brews” from breweries like Pretty Things (Somerville), Jack’s Abby (Framingham) and Slumbrew (Somerville).

In keeping with the brand’s commitment to the communities in which it serves, Not Your Average Joe’s will partner with local non-profit the Boston Area Gleaners during its Waltham grand opening. All proceeds raised during the two-day preview celebrations will be donated to the organization, which is dedicated to rescuing surplus farm crops for people in need.

The Boston Area Gleaners deliver high quality, local produce to pantries and meal programs by working closely with local farmers, providing volunteer labor to harvest what would otherwise be plowed under. In 2014, the organization’s most successful year to date, it gleaned 177,033 pounds of produce featuring 60 different types of crops from 34 farms in eastern Massachusetts, providing the equivalent of 708,132 four ounce servings of fresh fruits and vegetables to the Boston area emergency food system. Since 2004, the Boston area Gleaners have delivered more than 1.88 million servings (more than 470,000 pounds) of fresh local produce to neighbors in need.

The Waltham restaurant will continue to support the Boston Area Gleaners through September with its ongoing “Not Your Average Cause” program, which provides 15% of proceeds to a selected cause every Tuesday.
