Account Manager

I. Job description: The Account Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned accounts including the successful execution of all client programs, campaigns, and initiatives, the supervision of all designated account team personnel, and serves as Elevate’s primary client contact. In addition, the account manager must demonstrate a commitment to increasing technical skills, developing staff, contributing to agency initiatives, best practices & approaches and seeks new client opportunities through new business efforts.

  • Assist in planning the strategic approach and developing an hours and cost budget for each project/account
  • Direct agency onboarding procedures for each client
  • Participate in fee negotiation, billing and collections
  • Achieve account profitability goal based on budgeted expectations
  • Manage account P&L and ensure adherence to agency procedures and protocols

Account Management

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategic marketing communications programs for assigned clients
  • Manage all team activities for assigned accounts, ensure results are maximized & deadlines are met; delegate responsibilities to team members; maintain high quality of work and manage all aspects of agency/client engagement including:
    • Program execution in alignment with client SOW, assigned hours and fees
    • Account management protocols & processes
    • Tracking account activity, deliverables & deadlines
    • Results & activity reports
    • Client relationship management
    • Account resources including staff hours and assignments, budgets service fees and expense budgets
  • Utilize project management skills to take ownership of all account deliverables, programs and projects
  • Serve as final arbiter on quality control of all client & agency content and collateral before dissemination to clients or internal agency lead
  • Conduct and lead internal account brainstorming meetings
  • Maintain outstanding client relationships through successful execution of client initiatives, effective communication, reporting and problem-solving
  • Serve as primary client/agency interface; plans and lead client meetings (including client contract/financial discussions)
  • Establish realistic client expectations on projects; ensure clients are consistently informed of program status and results in adherence with agency protocols

Media Relations

  • Identify and secure media placements across all relevant mediums and media segments and conceptualize creative approaches to maximize editorial placements and earned impressions surrounding all client initiatives, campaigns, programs and projects
  • Plan, conduct and/or supervise staff on all tasks including proactive media outreach, etc.
  • Draft and/or review and edit all media materials including press releases, media advisories, pitches and other media collateral
  • Create develop and pitch story ideas and interview opportunities to consumer, trade, online and business press
  • Manage and grow strong relationships with editors, reporters, columnists, bloggers, and their media contacts
  • Ensure account team effectively, quickly, and accurately responds to media requests for information

Account Team Management & Staff Development

  • Manage employees working on related accounts
  • Provide clear direction on assigned client projects
  • Schedule staff workloads to maintain agency-established standards for billable hours and staff utilization rates and minimize staff overtime and downtime
  • Train staff through direct supervision of client engagements and work/performance reviews
  • Provide regular and direct feedback to staff regarding their performance to promote morale and enthusiasm
  • Communicate with Director or Vice President on regular basis about individual staff performance
  • Conduct effective and timely staff evaluations at the conclusion of projects and participate in semi-annual evaluation and career counseling sessions, and annual goal setting and planning as requested by the Director or Vice President
  • Actively mentor account managers and account coordinators
  • Develop spirit of teamwork and high morale among people working under your direction
  • Enhance the creativity of staff
  • Assists Human Resources with the interview process

Agency Development

  • Participate in administrative functions of the company, including staff meetings, office support and team-building exercises
  • Support additional client activities as requested by agency leadership; actively participates in special projects of the agency

New Business Development

  • Demonstrate ability to market and sell agency services, and develop a thorough understanding of the services offered by agency
  • Expand services provided to existing clients by identifying client needs and gaining client confidence
  • Participate in new business development inquiry meetings & evaluation and development of new business plans, proposals and scopes
  • Identify marketing opportunities created through business and social contacts and participation in industry and civic organizations

IV. Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of public and media relations experience with a minimum of 5 years public relations agency experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
  • Sector experience
  • Strong corporate communications experience servicing B2C and B2B
  • Proven track record in successfully designing and executing multi-faceted public relations campaigns in an agency environment
  • Practical knowledge of core public relations agency tools and platforms including media & social media monitoring tracking and reporting, media database software, Influencer engagement platforms
  • Management – supervision, client relations, project management, time management, understanding of daily operations of a PR agency
  • Marketing – strong knowledge of marketing strategy and the tools used to support marketing communications and branding campaigns (media relations, advertising, collateral, events, Internet, grassroots, etc.)

Senior Account Executive

The Senior Account Executive is responsible for the effective execution of client programs and initiatives and serves as a senior member of the account management team. This position oversees the day-to-day administration of client initiatives and acts as a liaison between clients and the media. The SAE also participates in agency and account strategy, positioning and program development, interacts with key agency & client personnel as needed.

Responsibilities
